Studio Session with the Wansink Family

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged because life has been a touch crazy. I’ve moved into a new studio space!! And while I have yet to properly announce it, I’ve been putting things here and there because I can’t help myself. I also had one of my favourite families come back to me to for their third session. And we used the new space for their studio session!

My favourite part about a studio session is my big, white bed. It’s there to help with recreating the special, cuddly moments that occur organically in your home. Reading a story to your toddler, wrestling with daddy on the bed, kids jumping up and down on the springy mattress… But most important, early morning snuggles as a family.

This is the first studio session in the space, so thank you so much to Sami and Simon who trusted my vision. If you are thinking of having a studio session, get in touch! I’d love to chat with you more about how to make this unique to your family.

Here’s what Sami had to say about her experience.

Sami’s experience

Our first family-as-four photo session…

Would our toddler be happy to participate? Would he stay still enough for in-focus shots? Would our newborn feed the whole time? Would she cry and fuss too much? Would I look as sleep-deprived as I felt? And most importantly… with two children in tow, would we all actually make it to the session in time (and in clean clothes)!?

Thankfully, we knew from personal experience that Steph is in her absolute element when photographing busy, bubbly families. She is personal, easy-going and understanding. My husband and I eagerly anticipated our session in Steph’s beautiful, light-filled studio and we were not disappointed.

The room was welcoming and comfortable, and Steph made us feel so at ease. We didn’t feel rushed or hurried along as I fed our daughter and allowed some time for our son to become familiar with his surrounds. Steph immediately won our son over, she got down on his level, making him feel special and excited for the games we were going to play (particularly the jumping on the bed game).

Steph allowed for lots of ‘play breaks’ whilst seamlessly transitioning through our ‘wish list’, capturing the moments that were so important to us. The images she created are a beautiful mix of the cheekiness of our precious kids, the joy my husband and I find in this crazy thing called parenthood and the love we all share for one another.
