The weather was still warm for this family session, despite it being mid-Autumn in Canberra. And this family arrived with a little boy who’d fallen asleep in the car on the way to our destination. So, I knew that my usual fun games and semi-posed setups wouldn’t work well for him, at least not straight away. I asked him if he’d like to take his shoes off and go into the river with his mum and dad. And that seemed to do the trick. Soon enough he was having lots of fun with his siblings.
The water was warm enough for all of us to go in ankle deep, and we navigated the stones at the bottom of the river to find a comfortable spot for both family and me to shoot.
Here’s what Chantell had to say about her family and session.
We are a funny, loving and crazy family. We have 3 children all blonde hair and blue eyes. Our eldest is our daughter Hayden (5yo) she is a thoughtful, bossy and kind big sister to Parker (3yo) who is a funny, cheeky class clown and our youngest Harvey (1.5yo) is always trying to keep up with his older siblings!
I have been let down numerous times when hiring a photographer with not receiving quality photos or photos at all but Steph produced some amazing photos (it was so hard to choose!) and so quickly! I wanted to update our family photos because as our little family grows I wanted to freeze this moment in time!
Steph is amazing! She made all of us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Even my grumpy 3-year-old who had just woken up! I loved playing the little games with our children to capture their true little smiles!
If you’d like to book a river family session or incorporate water play into your family portraits, get in touch! I’d love to design a session to suit you perfectly.
